After a 3 hour flight delay and 3 hours to get our car rental, our first day itenarary had to be discarded. But we still had to eat at La Gruta…a popular tourist restaurant next to Teotihucan

Inside the restaurant. Although not terribly pricey, it was the most we paid for a meal on this trip

After the meal they tell a little story and give you a candle to place on the wall inside the cave

We missed much of the beautiful views driving up to our first place because it was dark but, the next morning we did go explore Santa Maria Regala an old silver processing place built in the 1700s

Typically there is a big waterfall off the canyon, but since the water was so low we did not make the extra stop at Basaltic Prisms waterfalls of Santa Maria

Then the sign saying “Grutas Tolantongo” pointed to these narrow cobblestone switchbacks … as if to say “yep that’s the way “. Let’s just say Ron was a little more excited than me.

Ron loves the more scenic routes…half the distance but twice as long. The first hour on our way to Grutas Tolantongo looked very promising to me, large scenic canyons, great roads and beautiful Mexican villages like this.

My soul bursting with joy surrounded by so many powerful waterfalls…above, below, beside and all around me. My senses so full it cannot be captured in a photo.

We parked at Beacon Rock and hiked up to Hardy Falls. The sun had invited us but abandoned us as we hit the trail. I hope the trees and my daughter could feel the joy in my soul, because their presence was definitely a present to me.

My daughter may not see or feel the world exactly like me, but is that not what makes life so beautiful? If everyone was like me; if the soil, the plants and animals had cells that sang the same frequencies as my own, then what delicious vibrations would there be to feed my soul? I believe there is purpose behind our connections.
